Hicks Dairy is family owned and operated farm.
Kevin and Craig moved to their farm on August 31,1963.
They started farming when they were 10 & 12 years old.
They started milking in 1978 and started the cow
boarding in September of 2004, to obtain fresh raw
organic milk. Cow share leases are a way you can get a
source of fresh unprocessed milk. You may purchase as
many share leases as you would like. A weekly boarding
fee is charged for the cost of feeding, housing, milking and
the caring of the owner's cows. We have a grade A licence
and we ship milk, so the milk gets tested every other day
for bacteria counts. We milk twice a day in a Grade A
milking facility. The cows are pasture fed and they have
outdoor access year round. We feed them kelp, live earth,
flax, fossil shell flour and Redmond sea salt. We are
up breeding the Dutch Belted dairy cow, because their
milk is easily digested due to its soft curd and high
protein/fat ratio. They have higher butterfat. They have a
higher meat yield and they are known for their longevity.
